The Rules

General Rules

  1. Due to the sometimes graphic and mature content of the WoD, you must be 18+ to play in this channel.

  2. The game is loosely based on oWoD and Vampire:The Masquerade, though all things are open to Op/ST imagination interpretation and such. The game is easy to pick up on if it’s your first time, but you shouldn’t start doing drastic things until you know a bit about the game. You wouldn’t go all in on your first hand of poker, would you?

  3. Be someone that you yourself would be interested in playing with. Be courteous to others as you would want them to be towards you. Respect your fellow players and respect the Ops/STs that are here to make your rp experience interesting.

  4. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate! We cannot stress the importance of good communication! It will help the channel run smoothly and keep the drama at a minimum, which means more enjoyment for all. Got it?

  5. In general, keep OOC in OOC and IC in IC - such as, if you hate so and so person, your characters cannot automatically hate theirs. This would be taking OOC problems into the IC playing field and isn’t tolerated in this channel.

  6. Cursing is allowed IC and OOC, but cursing frequently after every other word is excessive and may offend someone.

  7. We're not strict on the /style/ you may rp in, but post length should closely mirror the efforts of others with whom you are in play. If Sally the player writes a nice descriptive paragraph and your character gives a nondescript, effortless reply, it makes Sally feel like her efforts were wasted.

  8. If you are not sure how to spell a word: www.dictionary.com . It is okay to misspell a word if you’ve had a long day or it’s just the one word that you never get right, but constantly misspelling a bunch of different words is a no-go.

  9. Logging is an essential to getting the XP your character deserves. Make sure all pertinent scenes are logged for ST/Op purposes, as well as in case something is called into question.

Character Creation Rules

1. This is a fully sheeted channel, with standard 3rd ed V:tM creation. Sheets can be sent to thelostcityrpg@gmail.com

2. There are Elders in this game, determined on a first come/first serve basis and by strict op regulation. Unless you have one helluva background, incoming characters will be of 9th gen or higher.

3. Although this is a sheeted channel, a probationary period of play is allowed so that the player may get a feel for the room and its players, as well as the Ops/STs getting a feel for a player. If the shoe fits, send in your sheet and we'll get you fully approved. No dice rolls, no combat, nothing besides general social play until permanent approval status has been awarded.

4. Characters outside the 7 basic V:tM clans are allowed on a discretionary basis. Just because you want to play a certain character, or such, doesn’t mean the Ops will agree that you as a player can handle it. If you want it, prove you can handle it.

5. We only allow two transfer characters; meaning if you have sheets of characters that you were playing before and you want to bring them here, you are allowed to bring two.  If you have had a long time character, but you have over time lost the sheet, talk to an ST.

6. We allow backgrounds as well as merits and flaws to be purchased.  Backgrounds are bought just like abilities (first dot is 3, next dots are x2 the amount of current dots); merits are double their cost; flaws are free unless otherwise indicated by an ST.

About Roleplay:
  1. If your character becomes involved in role play that leads to a graphic scene you are not comfortable playing out, you are excused from roleplaying the scene but that doesn’t mean the scene didn’t take place.

  2. IC actions have IC consequences. Pretty self explanatory, just use your brain when you play. Realize it’s okay if you want your character to do such and such, but be prepared for the consequences of such actions.

  3. Players and characters are separate.

  4. Ops/STs have the final say. If there is an issue, an audience with all the ops will be awarded, you may speak your piece and let the cards fall where they may. We have to do what we feel is fair, and arguing or whining will not change the outcome once a final decision has been made.

  5. Fun is our ultimate goal! So let’s play!

On OOC Drama:

Drama seems to be inevitable in role play rooms, but we wish to keep it to a low level so that things remain enjoyable for everyone.  We're here to have fun, and you should be as well.

So try and keep petty drama to a minimum.

The OPs don't want to deal with you and your friend's current fight.  So if you can't work it out between yourselves, and it's unrelated to the room, please do not bother the OPs about it.  Just get over it, or leave the room.  No one will get offended if you feel like your time in the channel has become no longer enjoyable due to OOC drama, and you want to leave.  We've all been in that situation.
