Jakob hasn't had an easy life... or unlife for that matter.  It has been riddled with conflict since the very beginning, and this has left him hardened and critical of the world and those in it.  He's confident, strong willed, and has a tough as nails demeanor.  Surely not the type to be carelessly triffled with.
